What happened
On December 22, 2012, at approximately 2313 UTC, a Swearingen SA227-AC Metroliner, registration C-GFWX, was performing a chartered flight (PAG993) operated by Perimeter Aviation. The flight was traveling from Winnipeg, Manitoba (CYWG) to Sanikiluaq, Nunavut (CYSK).
During the aircraft's second approach to the airport, it experienced a hard touchdown and subsequently overran the end of the runway. The aircraft came to a rest approximately 150 to 200 meters beyond the end of the intended runway surface.
The accident resulted in 1 fatality, 2 serious injuries, and 6 minor injuries. The aircraft sustained substantial damage.
