Accident
On 22 December 2012, at approximately 2313 UTC, a Swearingen SA227-AC Metroliner, registration C-GFWX, was operating as Perimeter Aviation charter flight PAG993 from Winnipeg, Manitoba (CYWG) to Sanikiluaq, Nunavut (CYSK). During the second approach to the airport, the aircraft touched down hard and overran the end of the runway. The aircraft came to a stop approximately 150 to 200 meters past the end of the intended runway surface.
Injuries and Damage
The flight crew sustained serious injuries. Six passengers sustained minor injuries, and one passenger, an infant, was fatally injured. The aircraft was substantially damaged.
Investigation
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is conducting the investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board has appointed an Accredited Representative to assist under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, as the State of Manufacture and Design of the airplane.
