Incident Overview
A student pilot was conducting a landing on runway 27. After the aircraft touched down, the pilot attempted to correct the aircraft's track by applying rudder and aileron inputs. In response, the airplane veered to the right and departed the runway surface.
Impact and Damage
The right main landing gear and the nosewheel contacted a snow and ice berm located adjacent to the runway. The impact caused the nosewheel to separate from the aircraft. Subsequently, the left wing tip struck the ground. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the firewall.
