A Thomson Airways Boeing 757 was forced to abort its landing approach at Reus Airport after a small aircraft was found on the runway.

What happened

On May 17, 2013, at approximately 0703 UTC, a Boeing 757-200, registration G-OOBE, operated by Thomson Airways, was on approach to Reus Airport (LERS) in Spain. The aircraft was cleared to land; however, the crew was forced to execute a go-around because a Diamond DA20, registration EC-IIT, was positioned on the runway.

Following the go-around maneuver, the aircraft returned to the airport and landed normally. There were no injuries resulting from this incident.
