Event Details
On November 22, 2013, at approximately 1030 coordinated universal time (UTC), a Robinson R66 helicopter, Brazilian registration PR-MXM, was conducting an approach to the Hotel Portobello Heliport (SIWS) located in Mangaratiba Municipality, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. While on approach, the helicopter began an uncontrolled rotation about its vertical axis. It subsequently lost altitude and struck the surface of Mangaratiba Bay. After impact, the helicopter sank.

The accident aircraft was a Robinson R66 helicopter, a light utility rotorcraft. It bore the Brazilian registration PR-MXM.
Pilot
The pilot of the helicopter was fatally injured during the accident. No other persons were reported on board.
