Accident Notification
The government of Mexico has formally notified the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of an accident involving an AgustaWestland AW109 helicopter that occurred on September 2, 2014. The notification was made in accordance with international protocols for aviation accident investigations.
International Cooperation
Under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, the NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the government of Mexico in its investigation. This appointment is made because the United States is the State of Manufacturer and Design for the AgustaWestland AW109 helicopter. The role of the U.S. Accredited Representative is to provide technical assistance and coordinate with Mexican authorities during the investigation.
Investigative Information
All investigative information regarding this accident will be released by the government of Mexico. As the lead investigating authority, Mexico will manage the dissemination of findings, including any preliminary reports, factual data, and final conclusions. The NTSB will support the investigation but will not independently release details about the accident.
