What happened
On September 20, 2014, at 0935 local time, a De Havilland DHC-6 300, registration P2-KSF, struck steep, jungle-covered terrain located just below the summit of Mount Lawes in Papua New Guinea. The aircraft, which was being operated by Hevilift under the civil regulations of Papua New Guinea, sustained substantial damage during the impact.
The accident resulted in 4 fatal injuries, including both pilots and two passengers. Additionally, one passenger sustained serious injuries, and four passengers were treated for minor injuries.
