What happened
On December 26, 2014, an Airbus A330-201, registration F-GRSQ, was operating a flight from La Réunion to Marseille, France. During the flight, the information provided by the three inertial reference systems became successively unavailable. This failure resulted in the disconnection of the autopilot and auto-thrust, as well as the loss of attitude and navigation information.
In response to the loss of automated systems, the crew diverted the aircraft to Athens, Greece. The crew utilized backup instruments and operated the aircraft using flight controls in direct law. The aircraft landed in Athens without further incident under good weather conditions. There were no injuries resulting from this event.
