What happened
On December 27, 2014, at approximately 1240 UTC, an Aerospatiale AS350B helicopter, registration PT-HNC, crashed into a wooded area near Rio-Santos, Bertioga, Brazil. The flight was being operated by Helimarte Taxi Aereo as a non-scheduled commercial domestic passenger flight.
The aircraft departed from Iporanga-Guaruja Helipport (SDIX) in Guaruja-Sao Paulo about two minutes before the accident, with a planned destination of Imigrantes Heliport (SDEY) in Diadema, Sao Paulo. Shortly after takeoff, the helicopter struck trees, resulting in an explosion upon impact with the ground. The accident resulted in 5 fatal injuries, involving the pilot and four passengers. The helicopter was destroyed.
At the time of the accident, weather conditions were within visual meteorological conditions (VMC) with a visibility of 6 statute miles and winds from 240 degrees at 02 knots.
