What happened
On February 15, 2015, a Boeing 767-204ER, operated by Shaheen Air International and leased from Jordan Air, was performing a takeoff roll from Islamabad International Airport (ISB) in Pakistan. During the takeoff roll, the aircraft's No. 1 engine, a General Electric CF6-80A2 turbofan, failed.
The flightcrew reported hearing a loud bang followed by a fire warning. In response to the engine failure, the crew performed an air turnback. The aircraft landed safely, and there were no injuries reported following the event.
The investigation
The Jordanian Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA) is conducting the investigation. The NTSB is serving as the U.S. Accredited Representative because the engine manufacturer is based in the United States. The aircraft involved was registered as JY-JAG.
