What happened

On August 9, 2015, at approximately 2200 UTC, a Cessna 172N, bearing registration TI-BAA, crashed at Pizarro Airport (SK-195) in Bajo Baudo, Colombia. The aircraft was operating under Colombian flight regulations in visual meteorological conditions.

During the landing sequence, the pilot executed a long landing and attempted to take off again. During this rejected landing attempt, the aircraft impacted terrain at the edge of a rainforest. The accident resulted in 3 fatal injuries, involving the two pilots and one passenger on board.

Preliminary information from the Government of Colombia indicated that the aircraft may have been using a false registration of TI-BOG. The departure point and the final destination of the flight were not determined.
