What happened
On October 14, 2015, at approximately 1645 UTC, a Cessna 208B, registered as PR-MIC, crashed into mountains near Yumbillo, Colombia. The aircraft was being operated by Microsurvey Aerogeofisica E Consultoria Cientifica of Brazil for the purpose of conducting a survey approximately 30 miles northwest of Alfonso Bonilla Aragon International Airport (SKCL).
At 1644, Colombian air traffic control lost both radio and radar contact with the aircraft. Shortly after the loss of communication, an emergency locator transmitter signal was detected. The wreckage was located at an elevation of approximately 6,900 feet mean sea level.
The accident resulted in 3 fatal injuries. The pilot and two passengers were on board the aircraft at the time of the impact.
