Accident Overview
On March 29, 2016, a Mitsubishi MU-2 twin-engine turboprop aircraft, operated by Aero Teknic, a Canadian aircraft maintenance company, crashed while on approach to Îles-de-la-Madeleine Airport in Quebec. The aircraft was carrying former Canadian politician Jean Lapierre, four members of his family, and two pilots. All occupants were killed in the crash, except for one passenger who initially survived. That passenger later died of a heart attack after being pulled from the wreckage.
Victims
Among the deceased were Jean Lapierre, a former Liberal and Bloc Québécois MP, his wife, and three of his siblings. The family was en route to attend Lapierre's father's funeral. The two pilots, whose names have not been released, also perished.
