What happened

On May 27, 2016, at approximately 12:38 Japan standard time, a Korean Air flight 2'708, operating a Boeing 777-300 with registration HL7534, was performing a takeoff from Tokyo Haneda International Airport in Tokyo, Japan. During the takeoff roll, the aircraft's left engine experienced a loss of power and subsequently caught fire. In response to the engine failure and fire, the crew rejected the takeoff.

There were no injuries resulting from this event.
