What happened
On May 26, 2025, at approximately 0925 UTC, a Boeing 777-200, registration N793UA, was performing a scheduled flight from Beijing Capital International Airport (ZBAA) to San Francisco International Airport (KSFO). During the takeoff roll, the crew heard a loud bang, which was immediately followed by a warning indicating a failure of the No. 2 (right) engine.
In response to the warning, the crew executed a rejected takeoff. The aircraft came to a stop on the runway without further incident. All passengers were deplaned, and the aircraft was subsequently defueled and towed away from the runway.
There were no injuries resulting from this event.
