What happened
On June 28, 2016, at approximately 1350 UTC, a Vans RV6, registration C-FTUO, crashed near the St-Mathieu-De-Beloeil (CSB3) airport in Quebec, Canada. The aircraft was being operated by a private individual for a local flight, and no flight plan had been filed for the mission.
The aircraft departed from Runway 15. During the initial climb, witnesses heard a loud bang, after which the airplane was seen descending. The aircraft struck level terrain in a field roughly 1,000 feet from the end of the runway and continued to travel 220 feet beyond the initial impact point. A fire occurred following the collision. The pilot, who was the sole occupant, sustained 1 fatal injury. The aircraft was substantially destroyed.
At the time of the accident, weather conditions were characterized by visual meteorological conditions (VMC).
