Incident
On July 14, 2016, at approximately 0230 Coordinated Universal Time, an Aero Commander B1A airplane, registered as C-GSQY, suffered a loss of engine power shortly after takeoff. The aircraft subsequently impacted terrain near Hoey, Saskatchewan, Canada. The pilot, who was the sole occupant, sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
Investigation
The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) of Canada is leading the investigation into the accident. As the state of manufacture of the airplane, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a U.S. accredited representative to assist the TSB.
