What happened
On December 7, 2016, at approximately 1150 UTC, an Embraer EMB 721D, registration PT-REI, crashed shortly after departing runway 11 at Manaus/Flores Airport in Manaus, Brazil. The flight was a non-commercial operation destined for Novo Aripuana Airport.
Witnesses reported that the aircraft experienced a loss of engine power during the initial climb. Following the power loss, the airplane lost altitude and struck trees before impacting the terrain in a wooded area east of the airport. The impact left the aircraft inverted and destroyed.
There were 6 fatal injuries resulting from the accident. While one passenger initially survived the impact, they later passed away in the hospital.
