What happened
On July 29, 2016, following a flight arriving at EPDE airport, a Cirrus SR22 G3 GT3 operated by Euro Trans Logisty and operated under the registration not specified was found to have sustained structural damage. Specifically, the lower portion of the right wing-to-fuselage fairing was missing, and the remaining parts of the component were damaged.
The investigation
The PKBWL investigation focused on determining how the damage occurred. The inspection revealed that the aircraft's airworthiness was compromised by the missing and damaged fairing components. The investigation noted a dispute between the aircraft operator and the CAMO (Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization) responsible for the aircraft regarding the circumstances of the damage. This dispute eventually led to the CAMO terminating its service agreement with the operator. Despite the investigation, the exact time and circumstances surrounding the damage could not be determined.
Findings
- The investigation was unable to establish the cause or the specific time when the damage to the fairing occurred.
- The operator has since ordered the necessary replacement parts to restore the aircraft to an airworthy condition.
