Accident Overview
On January 8, 2017, at about 1741 coordinated universal time (1441 local time), a Cessna 172 with Chilean registration CC-CMP was destroyed when it collided with terrain during final approach to Tirua Airport (SCQK) in Tirua, Chile. The pilot and three passengers on board sustained fatal injuries.

The aircraft, a Cessna 172, had departed from Isla Mocha Airport (SCHM) on Isla Mocha, Chile, prior to the accident. The flight was destined for Tirua Airport.
