What happened
On January 8, 2017, at approximately 1741 UTC, a Cessna 172, registered as CC-CMP, was performing a final approach to Tirua Airport (SCQK) in Tirua, Chile. The aircraft had departed from Isla Mocha Airport (SCHM) in Isla Mocha, Chile. During the approach, the aircraft collided with terrain. The accident resulted in 4 fatal injuries to the pilot and three passengers.
At the time of the accident, the aircraft was operating in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC).
