Accident Details
On January 20, 2017, at approximately 2120 coordinated universal time (UTC), a Cessna 172S aircraft sustained substantial damage when it impacted terrain near Araucania, Chile. The local personal flight had departed from Villarrica Airport (SCVI) in Araucania, Chile, about 2104 UTC.
Aircraft and Injuries
The aircraft, bearing Chilean registration CC-AGK, was involved in the accident. The pilot and one passenger sustained fatal injuries, while two other passengers were seriously injured.
Investigation
The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Chile. The Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) is responsible for the investigation. As of the report's release, no probable cause has been stated.
