What happened
On February 20, 2017, at 2159 UTC, a Raytheon B200 aircraft, registered VH-ZCR, crashed shortly after departing runway 17 at Melbourne/Essendon Airport (YMEN) in Victoria, Australia. The aircraft was performing a flight intended for King Island Airport (YKII) in Currie, Tasmania.
Following the impact with a building and a roadway, a fire occurred. The accident resulted in 5 fatal injuries, claiming the lives of the pilot and four passengers. The aircraft was destroyed in the crash.
