What happened
On June 3, 2017, at approximately 14:50 Japan standard time, a Cessna 172P aircraft, registration JA3989, crashed into snow-covered mountains near Tateyama, Toyama Prefecture. The flight, operated by New Central Air Service, had departed from Toyama Airport and was en route to Matsumoto Airport in Nagano Prefecture.
The accident occurred roughly 27 minutes after takeoff. The impact with the terrain resulted in 4 fatal injuries to the pilot and three passengers. The aircraft sustained substantial damage during the crash.
