Accident Overview
On June 20, 2017, at approximately 0920 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), a Kolb Firefly ultralite aircraft, bearing British registration G-CEPN, collided with terrain under unknown circumstances near Newell Lane, Luffenhall, Hertfordshire, England. The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, sustained fatal injuries. The aircraft was destroyed in the impact.
Investigation
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is conducting the investigation into the accident. As the state of manufacture of the airplane and engine, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a U.S. accredited representative to assist the AAIB in its inquiry.
