Accident Details
On October 14, 2017, at approximately 1130 local time, a Quicksilver Aircraft GT-500, registered as 9M-EAC, was destroyed when it collided with a river shortly after taking off from Sungai Rambai Aerodrome in Melaka, Malaysia. The aircraft was operating under the pertinent civil regulations of the government of Malaysia. The pilot sustained fatal injuries, while the passenger suffered serious injuries.
Investigation
The Ministry of Transport Malaysia’s Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is investigating the accident. As the state of manufacture of the aircraft, the United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a US accredited representative to assist the AAIB in its investigation. All inquiries concerning this accident should be directed to the AAIB.
The aircraft was completely destroyed in the collision. No further details have been released by the investigating authorities.
