Accident Description
During the landing roll of a tailwheel-equipped, high performance bi-plane, the pilot applied the brakes to decelerate for a full stop landing. Upon brake application, the bi-plane swerved to the left. The pilot corrected by releasing the brakes and applying right rudder.
The bi-plane then veered to the left again. Application of full right rudder and brake did not correct the swerve, and the bi-plane exited the left side of the runway. Subsequently, the aircraft nosed over.
Damage
The bi-plane sustained substantial damage to the rudder.
Pilot Report
The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures with the bi-plane that would have precluded normal operation.
