According to the pilot in the tailwheel-equipped, high performance bi-plane, during the landing roll the he applied the brakes to decelerate for the full stop landing. When he did, the bi-plane swerved to the left, but was corrected by letting off the brakes and applying right rudder.
The bi-plane then veered to the left again but did not correct with full right rudder and brake application. The bi-plane exited the left side of the runway and nosed over.
The bi-plane sustained substantial damage to the rudder.
The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures with the bi-plane that would have precluded normal operation.
