What happened
On September 27, 2018, at 0626 UTC, a Cessna 208B, registration VH-FAY, disappeared from radar while in the cruise phase of flight. The aircraft was traveling over international waters, approximately 185 km northeast of Narita International Airport.
The flight originated from Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands with a destination of Sapporo, Japan. Following the disappearance, debris from the destroyed aircraft was located and recovered from the ocean. The pilot sustained 1 fatal injury.
