Incident Overview
On August 7, 2019, at approximately 1408 coordinated universal time (UTC), a Raytheon 390 Premier 1A aircraft, bearing Czech Republic registration OK-EJH, encountered smoke and fire in the cockpit originating from the windshield heat system. The event occurred during the takeoff phase from Hamburg Airport in Hamburg, Germany.
Response and Outcome
The flight crew promptly returned the airplane to Hamburg Airport, where it executed a safe landing. The aircraft carried two crew members and three passengers. None of the occupants reported any injuries.
Investigation
The German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) is conducting the investigation into the incident. As the state of design and manufacture of the aircraft, the United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a U.S. Accredited Representative under Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation to assist the BFU.
