What happened
On December 14, 2019, at 11:15 local time, an Angel Aircraft Corporation 44 aircraft, registration VH-IAZ, collided with terrain in the vicinity of Mareeba Aerodrome in Mareeba, Queensland, Australia. The impact resulted in 2 fatal injuries to the two pilots on board. The aircraft was destroyed in the accident.
The investigation
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is conducting the investigation into the accident. Because the aircraft and engines were manufactured in the United States, the NTSB appointed a U.S. accredited representative to assist the ATSB with the investigation process.
