Accident Overview
On December 14, 2019, at 1115 local time, an Angel Aircraft Corporation 44 twin-engine airplane, registration VH-IAZ, collided with terrain near Mareeba Aerodrome in Mareeba, Queensland, Australia. The aircraft was destroyed, and both pilots on board sustained fatal injuries.
Investigation
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is leading the investigation into the accident. Because the aircraft and its engines were manufactured in the United States, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a US accredited representative to assist the ATSB in its inquiry.
