Accident Notification
The government of South Africa has formally notified the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) about an accident involving a Cessna 172 airplane. The accident occurred on August 26, 2020.
International Cooperation
Under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, which sets international standards for aircraft accident investigations, the NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the government of South Africa's investigation. The representative will work closely with South African authorities.
Investigation Process
The government of South Africa is leading the investigation, and all investigative information will be released by the government of South Africa. The NTSB's role is to provide assistance through its Accredited Representative, who will support the investigation as needed.
