What happened
On 17th July 2023, a Cessna Grand Caravan 208B, registered as SP-WAW, was involved in an accident at the EPNC aerodrome. The investigation into the specific sequence of events and the circumstances leading to the occurrence is currently ongoing.
The investigation
The State Commission on Aircraft Accidents Investigation (PKBWL) has been conducting an investigation into the event. As part of the process, the investigation team has examined various elements, including the technical and operational documentation of the aircraft and its user manuals. The team also reviewed the operational documentation of the aerodrome and analyzed the condition of the wreckage and the nature of the collision with the terrain and aerodrome infrastructure.
Furthermore, the investigation has involved an assessment of the damage to aerodrome infrastructure, the actions of the crew, and the effectiveness of rescue and fire-fighting operations. The team has also reviewed photographic and video evidence of the aircraft's position. To understand the environmental factors, an aviation meteorology expert was commissioned to analyze the atmospheric conditions present at the EPNC aerodrome at the time of the accident.
Findings
At this stage of the investigation, the commission has not yet released definitive findings regarding the cause of the accident. The investigation remains active, and the determination of the causal chain will be provided in the Final Report.
