On February 14, 2024, an accident involving a BELMONT DW-200, registration SP-BELM, occurred in the vicinity of Kaplityny, near Olsztyn, Poland. The investigation into the circumstances of this event is currently being conducted by the State Commission on Aircraft Accident Investigation (PKBWL).
The investigation
Since the occurrence, the PKBWL investigative team has performed several technical and field procedures to reconstruct the event. The investigators have conducted an on-site inspection of the accident location and completed photographic documentation. To assist in the analysis, the team has interviewed a passenger who was on board the aircraft and reviewed witness statements previously recorded by the Police.
Furthermore, the investigation involves a technical review of the BELMONT DW-200 maintenance and technical documentation, as well as a detailed analysis of data retrieved from the aircraft's flight recording devices. The PKBWL has also collaborated with specialized experts to assist in the recovery of these flight data records.
As part of international protocols, the PKBWL issued event notifications to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the European Union, and the aviation safety investigation authorities of Austria and Latvia. While the Austrian and Latvian authorities did not appoint representatives to the investigation, the process remains an active inquiry to determine the precise cause of the accident.
