What happened
On September 20, 2024, at approximately 16:48 CDT, an unregistered RANS S-14 Airaile light sport airplane was involved in an accident near Teague, Texas. The aircraft, registration UNREG, had departed from Teague Municipal Airport (68F) under Part 91 personal flight operations.
Shortly after departure, the engine lost power. The aircraft was observed turning back toward the airport, appearing to attempt an emergency landing. However, the airplane impacted the terrain short of the runway. The accident resulted in 1 fatality.
Weather conditions at the time of the accident were Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC) with a visibility of 10 statute miles and winds from 150 degrees at 4 knots.
