What happened

On January 19, 2025, at approximately 1410 eastern standard time, a Montaer MC-01, registration N916VS, was involved in an accident near Miramar, Florida. The flight was being operated by BAHAMIAN CLUB LLC under Part 91 regulations for a personal trip to the Bahamas.

During the takeoff roll, immediately after the pilot rotated the aircraft, the engine lost power. The pilot subsequently performed a forced landing on the grass area of the airport property near the end of the departure runway. During the landing, the nose landing gear and the right main landing gear collapsed. The aircraft then nosed over and came to rest in an inverted position. The pilot sustained 1 minor injury and was not fatally injured.

The investigation

A Federal Aviation Administration inspector examined the aircraft and identified substantial damage to the wings, fuselage, rudder, and vertical stabilizer. Investigators downloaded data from the electronic engine control unit, which was sent to the engine manufacturer for analysis. Additionally, the electronic avionics were removed and sent to the National Transportation Safety Board vehicle recorders laboratory for data download. The aircraft was retained for further examination.
