What happened
On March 12, 2025, at 13:00 EDT, a Piper PA-28-181, registration N3055B, was performing a Part 91 instructional flight near Hollywood, Florida. During the initial climb, the aircraft experienced a loss of engine power. The flight instructor performed a forced landing in a field, during which the aircraft struck a tree.
The accident resulted in one minor injury to the student pilot, while the flight instructor was not injured. The aircraft sustained substantial damage, specifically to the right wing, but came to rest in an upright position.
The investigation
Federal Aviation Administration inspectors examined the wreckage at the accident site. The aircraft was recovered for further examination.
