What happened
On June 14, 2025, at approximately 1415 Alaska daylight time, a Stinson 108, registration N2101Q, was involved in an accident near Cantwell, Alaska. The aircraft was being operated under 14 CFR Part 91 for a personal flight from Fairbanks to a remote airstrip for the purpose of performing touch-and-go landings.
Following a successful second touch-and-go, the pilot initiated a go-around. During the application of full throttle, the pilot reported feeling a shutter in the aircraft and noted that the airplane failed to increase airspeed for departure. Consequently, the aircraft ran out of runway and exited the end of the strip into brush, resulting in a nosed-over position.
The accident resulted in 2 minor injuries to the pilot and passenger, with 0 fatalities. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the fuselage, left wing, tail section, and rudder.
