What happened
On August 27, 2025, at approximately 17:41 mountain daylight time, a Mooney M20J, registration N5764H, was destroyed following an accident near Nampa, Idaho. The flight was being operated under 14 CFR Part 91 for personal use, traveling from Nampa Municipal Airport (MAN) to McMinnville Municipal Airport (MMV) in Oregon.
Preliminary ADS-B data shows the aircraft departed runway 29 at MAN at 17:40:00. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft crossed the departure end runway threshold at approximately 50 feet above ground level (agl) with a groundspeed of 67 knots. As the flight progressed, the aircraft drifted left of the runway centerline. Data indicates the aircraft climbed to 2,875 feet mean sea level (msl), or 338 feet agl, before the altitude leveled for approximately six seconds and then began to descend. The final recorded ADS-B data point placed the aircraft 130 feet east of the accident site at 2,800 feet msl with a groundspeed of 68 knots.
The aircraft impacted a storage structure and came to rest upright in a nose-low attitude. The wreckage debris area measured approximately 50 feet by 50 feet. There was no damage to nearby powerlines, trees, or other residential structures. The pilot and two passengers sustained 3 fatal injuries.
At the time of the accident, weather conditions at Nampa Municipal Airport were reported as calm winds, 9 statute mile visibility, a temperature of 89°F, and an altimeter setting of 29.93 inHg, with a calculated density altitude of 5,141 feet.
