What happened

Data from a commercial ADS-B service and the aircraft's Garmin G900X avionics suite provided a reconstruction of the flight. The aircraft departed from runway 19 at the Indy South Greenwood Airport (HFY) at 10:45. Following takeoff, the aircraft entered a climbing left turn. Approximately 30 seconds into the turn, the turn radius decreased as the aircraft continued to bank left. This was followed by a rapid descent to the right. The entire duration of the flight, from the start of the takeoff roll to the accident, lasted approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds.

The investigation

Engine parameters recorded by the Garmin G900X avionics showed that the engine was operating steadily from the application of power through the end of the recorded data. During the final portion of the flight, the engine recorded 38 inches of manifold pressure, 2,650 RPM, and a fuel flow of approximately 44.5 gallons per hour.
