Accident Details
On August 6, 2025, at 2035 central daylight time, an Air Tractor Inc AT-301 airplane, registration N23069, was substantially damaged in an accident near Davenport, North Dakota. The commercial pilot, operating under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 137 for an aerial application flight, sustained serious injuries.
Pilot Account
According to the pilot, the flight proceeded as expected and the aerial application was completed successfully. During the return climb to approximately 500 feet above ground level, the pilot noticed that the left fuel tank was low and switched the fuel gauge indications to monitor that tank. Shortly afterward, the low fuel light illuminated and the airplane experienced a loss of engine power. The pilot immediately actuated the wobble pump in an attempt to manually restore fuel flow, but the engine did not respond. As the airplane began to lose altitude, the pilot prepared for and performed a forced landing in a nearby cornfield.
Damage and Examination
The forced landing resulted in substantial damage to the wings and fuselage. The airplane was retained for further examination.
