What happened
On August 8, 2025, at approximately 11:20 mountain daylight time, an experimental amateur-built Denney Kitfox, registration N300KF, was involved in an accident near Parma, Idaho. The flight was being operated under 14 CFR Part 91 as a personal flight.
According to the pilot, the aircraft had completed an uneventful two-hour flight. While on the base leg of the traffic pattern with the engine running at 3,000 rpm, the engine suddenly lost all power. The pilot attempted to advance the throttle, but the engine failed to respond. The pilot reported that there were no unusual sounds or sputtering prior to the power loss and that there was insufficient altitude remaining to reach the runway.
The pilot performed a forced landing in a nearby pasture. During the landing roll, the aircraft nosed over and came to rest in an inverted position. The accident resulted in one serious injury to the pilot and substantial damage to the vertical stabilizer and rudder.

At the time of the accident, weather conditions were Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC) with a visibility of 10 statute miles and winds from 260 degrees at 11 knots.
