What happened
On August 18, 2025, at approximately 21:33 central daylight time, a Lancair NLA-275-FR-C, registration N345LA, was destroyed in an accident near Bradley, Arkansas. The flight was being operated under 14 CFR Part 91 as a personal flight. The pilot sustained 1 fatal injury.
ADS-B data indicates the aircraft departed Lakeway Airpark in Lakeway, Texas, at approximately 20:11, traveling on a northeast course. After reaching 10,000 feet MSL, the aircraft performed several climbs and descents, reaching a maximum altitude of approximately 14,125 feet MSL. At 21:32, while at 11,800 feet MSL, the aircraft entered a rapid right spiraling descent. Data shows the aircraft momentarily leveled off and climbed before entering a descending left turn into terrain.
The main wreckage was located in a wooded area. The aircraft's initial impact occurred in a pine tree approximately 200 feet from the main wreckage site. The debris field between the initial impact and the main wreckage contained fragments of the right wing. The aircraft was destroyed by the impact and a subsequent post-impact fire.
