What happened
On October 4, 2025, at approximately 1645 EDT, a Bellanca 7GCBC, registration N289PS, was involved in an accident near Reedville, Virginia. The aircraft was being operated under 14 CFR Part 91 for personal use.
While departing from a turf runway, the pilot advanced the throttle for takeoff. The pilot reported that the aircraft was traveling down the runway but could not recall the sequence of events following that moment until a bystander assisted him from the wreckage. The aircraft struck trees located off the side of the runway, causing substantial damage to the fuselage and wings. The pilot sustained one minor injury and no fatalities were reported.
Several days after the event, the pilot reported that he had fainted during the takeoff attempt and had been hospitalized for medical testing to determine the cause of the loss of consciousness.
