What happened

On January 7, 2026, at approximately 0809 MST, a Beech K35, registration N6010E, was involved in an accident near Prescott, Arizona. The aircraft was being operated as a Part 91 instructional flight.

After arriving at Prescott Regional/Ernest A Love Field Airport (PRC), the pilot receiving instruction performed an ILS approach to runway 21L. Following a successful touch-and-go landing and subsequent takeoff, the crew noted a positive rate of climb and retracted the landing gear. At an altitude of approximately 50 feet above ground level, a loud noise was heard and the propeller stopped completely.

In response to the engine failure, the flight instructor pushed the control yoke forward to maintain airspeed. As the aircraft was unable to maintain altitude, the pilot performed a gear-up forced landing on the remaining runway. The aircraft landed hard during the flare, causing substantial damage to the fuselage and empennage. The pilot and flight instructor were not injured.
