What happened
On March 27, 2026, at approximately 1630 Pacific daylight time, a Cessna 421B, registration N799TF, was involved in an accident near Sedona, Arizona. The aircraft was operating under Part 91 regulations for a personal flight, traveling from Los Alamos Airport (LAM) in New Mexico to Sedona Airport (SEZ).
The pilot reported that the flight and approach were uneventful. During pre-landing inspections, the pilot confirmed that all three landing gear legs were locked in the down position. After touching down on runway 21, the aircraft began to yaw to the right with a heavy pull. Although the pilot applied full left rudder to maintain the centerline, the right yaw returned as the aircraft slowed during the landing roll. The aircraft subsequently exited the right side of the runway and struck two taxiway signs. The landing gear collapsed, and the aircraft traveled through a ditch before coming to rest upright in a grassy area.
There were no injuries to the pilot or the pilot-rated passenger. The aircraft sustained substantial damage, including damage to the fuselage, the left horizontal stabilizer, and the right wing.
