On 7 December 2020, a float-equipped de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver, registered as C-FDSG, was being prepared for departure from Port Hardy Water Aerodrome (CAW5) in British Columbia. The aircraft, operated by Wilderness Seaplanes, was scheduled to fly to a nearby logging camp. During the pre-flight preparations, the pilot walked to the dock to ready the aircraft. Approximately 15 minutes later, the pilot was discovered in the water with injuries. Although first aid was provided at the scene and emergency responders moved the pilot to a hospital, the pilot passed away two days after the incident.
