On 20 June 2023, three Cessna 150 aircraft from Richcopter Inc. collided during night training at Ottawa/Gatineau Airport. Two aircraft sustained damage after one flew above the other.

Occurrence

On the evening of 20 June 2023, three pilots from the Richcopter Inc. flight training unit were conducting night circuits and touch-and-go manoeuvres under visual flight rules (VFR) from the Ottawa/Gatineau Airport, Quebec. Each pilot flew a separate Cessna 150 aircraft.

The first aircraft, registration C-GUGC, took off at 2128 local time. The second aircraft, registration C-FUAE, followed at 2130. The third aircraft, registration C-GRAE, departed at 2132. During the exercise, C-GRAE ended up directly above C-FUAE. Approximately at 2145, when C-GRAE was between 100 and 200 feet above ground level, it collided with C-FUAE.
