Event Description
On 9 February 2021 at 11:00 local time (17:31 UTC), a Cessna 152, registration YS 152PE, operated by Escuela de Pilotos Flight Training, was conducting a touch-and-go training flight as part of a private pilot license course. This was the student pilot's first solo flight. The aircraft departed from and landed on Runway 33 at Ilopango International Airport in El Salvador. After landing, the aircraft exited the runway to the right via exit D2 and entered Taxiway D. While on the taxiway, the student pilot suddenly lost control of the turn, and the aircraft veered off the taxiway, coming to rest in a rainwater drainage ditch at the intersection of D2 and Taxiway D.

The accident aircraft was a Cessna 152 (serial number 15282042) owned by the flight school. The location of the accident was Ilopango International Airport, located in the municipality of Ilopango, San Salvador department, El Salvador.
Damage
The aircraft sustained damage to the propeller, left wing tip, and the left main landing gear strut. The extent of damage required further assessment.
Personnel
The sole occupant was a student pilot holding a Salvadoran student pilot license. No injuries were reported.
Investigation
The accident is being investigated by the Unidad de Investigación de Accidentes e Incidentes of the Autoridad de Aviación Civil de El Salvador in accordance with ICAO Annex 13 and local regulation RAC 13. This is an initial report and may be subject to change.
