What happened
On 10 December 2024, an EMB-145EP, registration G-SAJE, was performing a commercial passenger flight departing from Edinburgh Airport. During the initial climb phase of the operation, a member of the cabin crew slipped on the aircraft floor near the front of the cabin. The slip was believed to have been caused by the presence of de-icing fluid on the floor surface.
Following the incident, the crew discussed the situation, and the commander decided to relieve the cabin crew member of their in-flight beverage service duties. While the crew member remained capable of performing essential safety-related tasks, they did so while experiencing physical discomfort. Subsequent medical evaluation at a hospital confirmed that the crew member had suffered a fractured ankle.
The investigation
The investigation was based on the aircraft accident report form submitted by the pilot. The inquiry focused on the circumstances leading to the slip and the subsequent injury to the crew member. The investigation established that the slip occurred during the early stages of the flight following departure from Edinburgh.
