Accident
On 13 January 2024 at approximately 08:30 a.m. local time, an X-AIR Hawk ultralight aircraft collided with a tree in a rice field in Huayyai subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province. The accident occurred during a local flight that had departed from a temporary take-off and landing area in Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province. The flight was a non-commercial operation.
Aircraft and Operator
The aircraft involved was an X-AIR Hawk ultralight, bearing nationality and registration mark U-H77. It was operated by BFA Flying Company Limited. The aircraft was completely destroyed in the accident.
Injuries and Damage
The pilot died as a result of the accident. The passenger suffered serious injury and was transported to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya. The aircraft was destroyed.
Investigation
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee for the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Commission Thailand is conducting the investigation. An interim report was published in September 2025. The investigation is in process, and a final report including the cause of the accident and preventive measures will be published later. The United Kingdom (state of design and manufacture), the Republic of Austria, and the Federal Republic of Germany (states having suffered fatalities or serious injuries to their citizens) were notified.
