Incident Overview
On 26 July 2023 at 10:35 a.m., a student pilot conducted a solo training flight in a Cessna 172S aircraft, registration HS-PTD, operated by Bangkokair Aviation Training Center Company Limited (BATC) at Sukhothai Airport. After completing the training in the airport's designated training area, the student pilot returned to land on runway 36.
Sequence of Events
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's nose wheel made initial contact with the runway surface, resulting in a wheelbarrowing condition. This caused the propeller blades to strike the runway. After taxiing to the parking stand, a licensed aircraft engineer observed that the propeller blades were bent.
Injuries and Damage
No injuries to persons occurred, and the aircraft sustained no structural damage aside from the bent propeller blades.
Investigation Status
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee for the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Commission Thailand has issued this interim report. The investigation is complete, and a final report will be published with the cause of the serious incident and recommended preventive measures.
