What happened
On 23 October 2014, an Emirates Airline Airbus A330-243, registration A6-EKR, arrived at Dubai International Airport from Ahmedabad, India. The flight, carrying 274 passengers and 14 crewmembers, landed without incident on runway 30L.
As the aircraft taxied toward its parking stand, the flight crew performed a single-engine taxi procedure, shutting down the No. 2 engine. During this taxi phase, a senior cabin crewmember left her assigned jump seat to move toward the forward economy galley to prepare for door checking duties. While traversing the cabin, the crewmember stopped near the business class galley to retrieve a uniform hat from a storage closet.
As the aircraft approached the final turn into parking bay Golf 2, the captain applied firm brakes to prevent overshooting the stand. This deceleration, which dropped the aircraft speed from 14 knots to 4 knots in just four seconds, caused the crewmember to lose her balance. She was thrown forward into a galley worktop before hitting the floor, resulting in one serious injury to her neck and back.
